Exploring Yourself and Community
|
1. Identify your community location. (Streets, shops , houses, structure of house, who/how many people live there, how many rooms does your home have, do you share your room with a sibling etc). How do they this impacted your life and identity?
There are many people who live in my community. There are also a variety of shops that range from selling food the hardware supplies. I have about five or six room in my home and I do have to share my room with a sibling, I think this has had a reverse effect on me since I think that sharing a room with a sibling would make you more open.
2. Identify five houses to your left, right, and in front of you. Find their architectural patterns, history and trace how many generations of the same family lived there?
Most of the homes surrounding mine have the same architectural patterns since they were all built by the same person. Most of the homes have had only one generation lives in that same house.
3. How many of the families living their nuclear families, single parent family? Has a parent ever been incarcerated; is a drug user; is in rehabilitation?
None of the families living on my block are nuclear families, and I think there are about two families that have only one parent running them.
4. What kind of work do the parents do? What is the average income? Is the money is sufficient to serve your needs?
My mother is an accountant for the City and my Father is a track engineer for Amtrak. I think their total average income is around 100k but I am not really sure. I think it is enough to serve my needs I mean I’m never hungry or cold.
5. is your neighborhood residential or commercial?
My neighborhood is residential
6. What are the nearest hospital, park, drug store, grocery store and school to your community?
The nearest park is Fairmont Park. The closest rug store is a Rite Aid. The closes grocery store I guess is an Acme. The closes schools are Beeber, Gompers, and The Laboratory Charter School of Communications and Languages
7. Who is your Congressman from your area? How often do you or your community get to see him? How much time does he spend with the community? I don’t know who the congressmen for my area is, which probably shows that he or she never really visits my community.
8. Has some state and federal grant been given to your community and how have they been utilized? Is your neighborhood peaceful and quiet? Have any gang related wars erupted in your hood? How have you dealt with violence and bloodshed? Has someone counseled you at such times? If yes, how did it help you? If not, what were the repercussions on your identity and that of your family?
I don’t think any state or federal grants have been given to my community. My neighborhood is relatively quiet and peaceful, I mean it has its bad days, but there aren’t that many of those.
9. What sort of intervention has been provided to your community to make a positive difference?
The stop the violence mach has happened in my community
10. Would you want to continue living in your community even after reaching your goal of success in life? What would the driving force behind your decision be? If you moved out, what would be the motive behind your decision? Do you feel any sense of responsibility towards your community? If yes, what would you personally do to bring about changes (if needed)?
I don’t know…I mean I like it here but If it gets bad I could see myself moving somewhere else after reaching my goals of success in life.

Looking At Communities (North America)
|
Oaxaca is the fifth-largest state in Mexico and is bordered by the states of Puebla and Veracruz ,Guerrero , Chiapas and by the Pacific Ocean. It also represents the mexico as a whole through its landscape that extends from the mountans to the coast.
The both my and the community of Oaxaca are the same because they have diverse backgrounds. Also both communities both believe in some kind of higher power.
The communities are different because in the community of Oaxaca they farm to provide for them selves for example coffee. But in my community people open up business that sell food or household products.
The most interesting thing I have learned about the community of Oaxaca is How they make hand made crafts to sell to the tourist. This is the mosst interesting thing to me because it shows that they use their skills , skills that where used in their past to provide entertainment or clothing to provide for them selves now.

9.11
|
9/11 impacted me in my thinking and the way I was living my life. After 9/11 I realized how tomorrow isn't promised for any of us and how our life could end with a blink of an eye.
It impacted my thinking through the way I think of others, like its not what they look like or where on the outside but its whats on the inside and what they do that defines them. I replied to Shannon's post.
